Honoring Generations of Veterans

Sponsored by Dignity Memorial

Honor veterans from every war since 1812 through hands-on efforts to restore and conserve headstones at a cemetery in Galveston on Veterans Day Weekend.

We will board a bus at 9am to depart Houston from Forest Park Lawndale at the parking lot near the administration building. We travel to Galveston, and along the way learn about the history of the cemeteries where we will be working. Headstone cleaning begins at 10am with a break for a box lunch at noon. In the afternoon, we will work under the direction of Rusty Baker, the cemetery steward for the National Park Service who train us in restoration activities. At 3pm, we board the bus to depart for Houston with a planned arrival back at Forest Park at 4pm

This event is free but you must be registered to attend. Event limited to 50 participants.
