Uncorked: Cacao Beer

We're sad to say goodbye to our "Uncorked" series. We've had a lot of fun working with Dr. Stephen Batiuk and Lucas Livingston as they have traversed the international world of alcoholic beverages through the centuries. Our last episode pays tribute to a subject near and dear to many: chocolate.

Deep in the forests of Ecuador, the earliest evidence for cacao cultivation has been found, taking place much earlier than that of Central America. It was in this upper Amazonian region that a chocolate beer was brewed, differing greatly from the bitter frothy drinks favored by the Maya and the Aztecs.

Chocolate beer? Well YES! Join us for a delightful journey to discover the story of production of a unique fermented beverage as we bid a fond farewell to our guides.
