Iraqi Reed Harvest
A master builder in Iraq helped harvest Phragmites australis from the marshes and crafted all of the components that are needed to build an authentic mudhif in Houston. These components were shipped to Houston — a “mudhif in a box” — to be assembled at Rice University for public programming and student use during the spring and summer of 2023.
