DR. ALEXANDRA JONES & DELANDE JUSTINVIL
Alexandra Jones is a historical archaeologist and educator, receiving her PhD in Historical Archaeology from the University of California. She is founder and Chief Executive Officer of “Archaeology in the Community," a Washington, D.C.‒ based nonprofit that aims to increase awareness of archaeology and history. Dr. Jones received her PhD in She worked on the PBS television series Time Team America as Field Director of Archaeology for the 2013 series.
Delande Justinvil is a critical biocultural anthropologist and PhD candidate at American University whose interests lie at the intersection of Black Studies, Cultural History, and Biological Anthropology. Delande’s research mobilizes an “anthropology of Black remains” to interrogate the biological, psychic, and social afterlives of slavery across the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., with a particular focus on the 19th and 20th centuries.
