SUMMER ESCAPES | The River’s Edge

When it gets hot, the hot head to the river!

As the summer winds down, we invite you to join us for one last hurrah on the banks of the river — the Thames River. Twice a day, the flotsam of British history washes up on the beaches of the Thames as the river rises and falls by up to seven feet.  When the tide is low, London's largest archaeological site is revealed.  Archaeologists, from the amateur to the seasoned professional, head to the river, not for the refreshing temperatures but for the discoveries.  Prehistoric structures, Roman-era pottery, Saxon fish traps, Medieval shoes, 18th century warships, Victorian buttons, modern plastic bags all await the intrepid, rubber-booted explorers.  There's even a name for them:  "foreshore archaeologists."   Join us at the river for discoveries and adventure!
